Hi Tracy, Thanks for posting your questions re: your 5 yr. old. I wanted to take this moment to talk a bit about the 3 stages of childhood and how that plays out in homeschooling. In my former life (before homeschooling) I was a teacher in a Waldorf school and earned a dual degree in Human Dev. and Family...

  • Re: How young can a child be???

You have such good ideas. Thank you. My boy really loves music and rhythm. He's constantly humming paterns and beats. We got him a drum set and he loves it. He even makes up songs using our names... abbi (daddy), mommy, and his baby brother Judah. You've inspired me to incorporate the A is for...

The resources of Homeschool Inc are a great way to organize your time. There are many curriculum choices available, and it is alright to mix and match based on your children's needs.

  • Re: Encouragement for new to homeschooling.

Suelh.....I am so glad my message encouraged you. I agree, I love "being able to sit side by side", public school teachers must maintain a "hands off" approach in case a hug is misconstrued. How wonderful to not only know what our children are learning but the closeness and being...

  • Re: trying to make the decision

It has only been a few days, but already he is a different child. More relaxed and seems to be so much more ready to learn. He is even "teaching" his 2 yr old brother new things and is much more patient! We live in Central Texas and I am wondering if anyone could help me with what a letter...

Thank you so much. I took the leap yesterday and took him out of public school. That feeling of being overwhelmed has hit me now full force! I just want to the best thing for my son. He had wonderful grades last year when he had a less rigid, more caring teacher. This year by the 2nd 6 weeks of school...

  • Re: New to homeschooling with young boys

We started homeschooling with a pre-schooler too! And I too wondered how long to "do school" and for how many days. Back then I didn't get, as much as I do now, that learning is a part of life. We all seem to be more comfortable being child-specific on "How much should they eat?"...
