  • Re: New to homeschool

The resources of Homeschool Inc are a great way to organize your time. There are many curriculum choices available, and it is alright to mix and match based on your children's needs.

  • Re: New Year's Changes

I have found that the New Year tends to be a point where I often change things up a bit. It is a chance to review our curriculum choices...adjust our schedules a bit and entertain the idea of doing more hands on projects (considering that we have more indoor time over the winter months and we are not...

  • Re: Learning a second

We also have a focus on languages. My husband and I both work flexible hours and he speaks to our daughters only in Portuguese. He has been really good about keeping that up even though Portuguese is a second language for him as well. He also reads to them in Portuguese, and they watch films in Portuguese...

  • Re: Encouragement for new to homeschooling.

Suelh.....I am so glad my message encouraged you. I agree, I love "being able to sit side by side", public school teachers must maintain a "hands off" approach in case a hug is misconstrued. How wonderful to not only know what our children are learning but the closeness and being...

  • Re: trying to make the decision

It has only been a few days, but already he is a different child. More relaxed and seems to be so much more ready to learn. He is even "teaching" his 2 yr old brother new things and is much more patient! We live in Central Texas and I am wondering if anyone could help me with what a letter...

But, as you say they are not interested in pointing out the numbers/letters in other settings yet--for the most part. They love pointing out the numbers 1 and 2 in elevators. We all enjoy our "school"...

  • Re: trying to make the decision

Thank you so much. I took the leap yesterday and took him out of public school. That feeling of being overwhelmed has hit me now full force! I just want to the best thing for my son. He had wonderful grades last year when he had a less rigid, more caring teacher. This year by the 2nd 6 weeks of school...

  • Re: New to homeschooling with young boys

We started homeschooling with a pre-schooler too! And I too wondered how long to "do school" and for how many days. Back then I didn't get, as much as I do now, that learning is a part of life. We all seem to be more comfortable being child-specific on "How much should they eat?"...
