  • Re: Still unsure....

Hi there, Like many of us who walk this journey, you are certainly facing some tough decisions. I would like to offer my personal experiences from taking my child out of PS (finished K and 1st gr. PS - before that we did private pre-school and pre-k). Private school did not have the resources to offer...

  • Is it ADHD, bipolar (?), now diagnosed with Graves'

Hey, I am new and desperate. We have taken our son out of school. He is 8 (9 in June) and in third grade. He has always been a typical 'boy' in school. I have three other old children and I have been through the public school thing before. My oldest (son) is now 21. He was ADHD, dyslexic, later...

  • Re: Anyone from Washington State?

I live in Coeur D Alene, and I am in the early researching process of homeschooling my kids. They are in first and pre k now at a private school, but i was thinking about starting this fall. I also have two more younger kiddos that I want to get started as well. I would also love some support.

  • Re: New to home schooling

It sounds like homeschooling will be ideal for your son. I'm not sure what state you are in so I'm not sure what all your regulations are. However, if you can, I would take the rest of the school year to 'deschool'. Let him have some time to let go of the stress of school and remember...

  • New to home schooling

Hi my name is Rhonda and I am currently in the process of arranging homeschooling for my 10 year old boy. He has attended public schools his whole life and has struggled with learning. He was retained by my request in 2nd grade. He has had IEP services at school until the 3rd grade. I held him back thinking...

  • Anyone from Washington State?

I am looking for friends for my son and myself. I live about an hour away from Spokane. Moses Lake, Ephrata, and Omak are close too. We are brand new to homeschooling and need some friends and tips. My son is pre-k, 3 years old and loves to be social. We have a big family but no one for support with...

  • Re: starting at the end of a school year

Don't worry about a curriculum right now. Get him out, enjoy your time together and explore any interests he has. You will learn so much about how he learns and what he is interested in, so that by the time you feel you really need some curriculum you will have a much better idea what will work well...

Thanks so much for the info! I'm picking brains as well. We are originally from Austin Tx but were stationed here at fort stewart georgia five years ago and have been doing deployments and stop-losses since that have held us here. My 8 year old loves science, math, and anything star wars. I figure...

I am a new homeschool mom, and wife of a veteran of desert storm in Texas and can identify completely! I just pulled my 5th and 2nd graders out of school and am in the same boat. I found a local homeschool bookstore and they were very helpful to me. Gave me websites, and load of encouragement. Ask around...
