  • Re: Anyone from Washington State?

I live in Coeur D Alene, and I am in the early researching process of homeschooling my kids. They are in first and pre k now at a private school, but i was thinking about starting this fall. I also have two more younger kiddos that I want to get started as well. I would also love some support.

Go to your local library. there is a section devoted to homschoolers. I have several favorite books that I have used. I like "How To Homeschool" , by Gayle Graham. It helped me with a reasonable schedule, record keeping and other important issues. Of course there are many other books to help...

We are brand new to homeschooling and need some friends and tips. My son is pre-k, 3 years old and loves to be social. We have a big family but no one for support with...

Hi Tracy, Thanks for posting your questions re: your 5 yr. old. I wanted to take this moment to talk a bit about the 3 stages of childhood and how that plays out in homeschooling. In my former life (before homeschooling) I was a teacher in a Waldorf school and earned a dual degree in Human Dev. and Family...

You have such good ideas. Thank you. My boy really loves music and rhythm. He's constantly humming paterns and beats. We got him a drum set and he loves it. He even makes up songs using our names... abbi (daddy), mommy, and his baby brother Judah. You've inspired me to incorporate the A is for...

Hi, As Librarian here at HSI, I'd suggest that you consider checking the resources at your local public library. Children's areas of libraries are very active places with storytimes and other programs as well as books, puzzles, CD-Roms and other materials to stimulate a child's imagination...

  • Re: Please help, new to home schooling

Well, I do think that 16m is a little young to be starting a formal education. But I understand and commend you for wanting to get things prepared. Most cirriculum packages don't offer anything before 4 years old, but even then I don't do anything really formal. Sort of just let them take the...
