  • Re: Why do you homeschool?

Actually, Christine, Bree (short for Brianna) has been my goddaughter for all of her life so I didn't just meet her. Because of this, guess what?! At our last court hearing, the magistrate asked if I would like to adopt her and I smiled from ear to ear! We begin the proceeding on Jan. 22nd. So, she's...

  • Re: Why do you homeschool?

I am homeschooling because, due to last year's unfortunate circumstances (my child was previously in an indifferent foster care system) she had been in trouble and was "sentenced" to the "bad kids" school. Over the summer, she came to live with me and made a complete 180 turn...

  • Re: New to homeschool

Hello, my name is Staci. I am new to homeschooling. I am starting at this point of the year because I have a stepson who is 14 and in danger of not passing the 7th grade. He is already behind, he technically should be in 9th grade at this time, but he has had some issues in the past. He has not been...

Hi there, Our family visited Tasmania in 1995--it was wonderful!! So beautiful! We loved that in Tasmania you can stand in one place and see a beach, a farm field and a mountain--all at the same time!!! (The location I'm thinking of us is the beach near "The Nut") Our daughter too, is artistic...

  • Re: Waiting, waiting!

After the last month of the school year - of which my daughter was on "stress leave" for 3 weeks - I have made the decision that she is NOT going back to school ... if, for some reason, the Education Minister doesn't approve our curriculum by February, I'm going to keep her home and...

  • Re: Why did you choose to homeschool - or why do you continue?

For me it was a matter of being led by God to do what was right for my granddaughter. I have been raising her since she was 4 days old. In prayer I heard the Holy Spirit say that she would never see the inside of a public school. Of course I became worried saying "Lord are you planning to take my...

redsweet1955, I have to agree with you about the improved health! My 14 year-old daughter has been on "stress leave" from school for three weeks, and she has been so much healthier! Also, much more considerate of me and my needs (there's just the two of us, so it can be a bit overwhelming...

It seems as though we have tried a bit of everything...from private to public schooling and we have finally settled in nicely with homeschooling. When our oldest was 2 we began to really think about schools and their options. We found a wonderful Waldorf School that really opened our eyes up to the idea...

We started to homeschool because our son was far advanced. Also I have always been a stay home mom and it makes sense to continue educating our children as we see fit and expose them to our beliefs while protecting them from the secular way of thinking that has begun to hugely infuence our local school...

Thank you for expressing your joy of homeschooling. We to have just started homeschooling this year, our 3rd grade son, after similar but slightly different situation. We have truly enjoyed our days together. Some days are better and some days could use some improvement BUT I feel so fortunate to be...
