www.kineticbooks.com has a very reasonably priced online algebra course. www.courserpository.org and www.hippocampus.org have algebra classes - online lessons, but you need to find and buy one of the textbooks they list.

Dear Dave and Marie, Welcome to the adventure! I admire you. This will be an exciting time for you and your family. Algebra is an incremental subject. That means you can't jump around from topic to topic like you can in science or other subjects. It would be best to settle on a program and stick...

Hi Christi, Nice to "meet" you! I have a couple of ideas for you. You may have to try out a couple of things to find what works for you, but here goes. There is a neat, free online site at www.oldfashionededucation.com . They have several free algebra resources there to try out. Also, your...

In our family we use Saxon books for math. In addition, we have purchase the DIVE CDs that are available. They are very good in that the kids can watch a "whiteboard" presentation and listen to a lecture that explains every lesson in the book. My kids are ages 7, 10, and 13. The 13 yo is doing...

It has been a VERY long time since I have done algebra and I have minimum finances to acquire items, we are getting ready to move here shortly due to my husband joining the coast guard...

Hi Melissa Welcome to homeschooling. I don't know if this is offered in your state but Connections Academy seems to be a pretty good interactive program. I wish it was offered in Michigan I would try it out . For more information here is their web address. http://www.connectionsacademy.com/technology...

Hi, I have been homeschooling my now 14 yr. old daughter (9th grade) for 8 years. I have tried many different curriculums, like K12, and though there are great things about it, certain things were not a good fit for my daughter as with every curriculum out there. I tend to use the potpourri style of...

Hi All, We are also new to the homeschooling world. (Melissa, it seems we are in a very similar situation.) We just pulled our 15 year old (9th grader) out of traditional public school. I will be homeschooling her for the rest of the year and I feel a bit lost as to how to get started. If you happen...

Clonlara.org may be something to consider. They provide correspondence curriculum for homeschooling high schoolers, are student-oriented, and there's an interactive dimension available. They work with you, with the student to come up with what's going to be a good fit. We did not use them, but...
