  • A great post on nutrition from The Homeschool Classroom

I have said before that I love this blog . I love the way it looks. I love the topics. I love everything about it. (I'm also extremely envious, as mine isn't nearly this great!) They have a lot of different authors with different opinions about things - I think that's why it's so special...

We have 2 kids that have Fibromyalgia and are also vegetarians, and 1 that is pretty much straight carnivore. So meal time is always tricky. We also make use of our crock pot, but I always have vegetarian options available in the freezer. We also do a lot of salads and fresh fruits, especially for lunch...

  • Crock Pot Recipe: Steak "Thing"

Ok, so it doesn't sound very appetizing at all, but trust me... it's yummy! It's quick and really EASY and makes your house smell good all day!! This takes 5-10 minutes to prepare in the morning and 25 minutes in the evening. STEAK THING INGREDIENTS: (can be adjusted quite easily for any...
  • Time Management

It has taken me awhile to find the right formula. My wife's schedule has been part of the problem, she is a nurse and works 12 hour shifts, her rotation is 3 days on, 2 off, then 2 on and 3 off. I am the stay at home dad, and I try to give Rita and James their time on her days off. We started home...

  • Re: Quick dinners

I find the "once a week" or "once a month" cook books hard to follow because of varying family tastes. I prefer to find a group of "seasonal" recipes that my family likes adn rotate them in two or three week shifts. For example, in Winter, I cook two whole hens in the crock...

  • Re: Chore wars!

What about young children? I have a 3 1/2 year old, who is extremely active, and changes her clothes about 15 times a day (trying on anything that is pink, frilly, sparkly, 'turns around' like Cinderella, or other exciting things she can find), and then leaves them around. I tell her to pick...
  • Quick dinners

Homeschooling for us has been mostly outside-of-the-homeschooing. With 4 active kids we have made good use of our crockpot! I tend to make dinner while breakfast is being made. Easy meals that we all enjoy are chicken ***, pork chops (both can be made with lemon, salt & pepper / teriyaki / bbq) or...

For fast family friendly dinners I keep a supply meals I have prepared ahead of time and frozen available. I also have on hand a supply of take out menus on hand. One of my favorite cook books is called Once a Month Cooking. TeamA
