  • Is there anyone here from Australia? Perth?

Hi, I'm Katrina. I live in Perth, Western Australia. I am relatively new to homeschooling. We have been homeschooling 18 months. I have two boys, 9 years and 8 years and I homeschool them both. I would love to chat to other homeschoolers from anywhere.

My name is Bec and I have 3 children aged 7, 5 and 1. My son Nick is currently being assessed for Autistic Spectrum Disorder (the only disorder that state schools will provide funding for further assistance with special needs children. He experiences high levels of anxiety, perfectionism (not with tidying...

  • Re: Waiting, waiting!

Hello again everyone! Well, here we are at the end of our first "official" week of home schooling! Unfortunately, still waiting to get my barcode from Distance Ed for ordering their kits, but luckily we have plenty of books in our household, and a pretty good library, albeit small! Monday,...

  • Re: Waiting, waiting!

Wonderful news!! We're very happy for you! We have extended family in Australia. When one of our nieces came to visit us for a few months, many years ago, she brought her Distance Education schoolwork with her and communicated with them. So, I can picture just what you're talking about--although...

  • Re: Waiting, waiting!

Well, well, well! Yesterday I found out that the "pending" status that Liana has had since November legally allows me to begin home educating! I wish I'd realised it then, the last month and a half of school last year was very difficult. But the letter notifying me of the pending status...

  • Re: Waiting, waiting!

We are still waiting! We have to have a monitoring visit from THEAC, and their office is closed until the 21st of January. Bu, as I said, whatever happens, we are going to homeschool - even the school principal is working on the assumption that that's what we'll be doing, so if we do have any...

  • Re: Why do you homeschool?

Hi there, Our family visited Tasmania in 1995--it was wonderful!! So beautiful! We loved that in Tasmania you can stand in one place and see a beach, a farm field and a mountain--all at the same time!!! (The location I'm thinking of us is the beach near "The Nut") Our daughter too, is artistic...

  • Waiting, waiting!

Hey there everyone! I'm new to the forum, new to homeschooling. At present, my daughter and I are in the process of becoming registered for homeschooling. In Tasmania (Australia) where we live, that involves getting an info pack from the Tasmanian Home Education Advisory Council, sending in a notification...
