  • Re: homeschooling child with cerebral palsy, a "normal" 5 year old and having a 17 month old

HI there,  I just finished reading your story and I can relate to this in many ways.  I have 2 children w/a rare genetic syndrome.  Both of my children have had early interventions, many therapies to help w/muscle tone, balance, coordination, speech and vision therapy.  My oldest is 12 and we have been hs'ing him for ...

  • Re: Still unsure....

Hi there, Like many of us who walk this journey, you are certainly facing some tough decisions.  I would like to offer my personal experiences from taking my child out of PS (finished K and 1st gr. PS - before that we did private pre-school and pre-k).  Private school did not have the resources to ...

  • Re: Bipolar Child

I am glad that you liked it!  I am so sorry for your loss...I remember the days of sitting in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (the NICU club)  and wishing so badly that I didn't have to experience any of it...but ultimately in the end we somehow emerged on the other side w/a new found strength and realization.  When times ...

  • Re: Curriculum planning for special needs

When we pulled our son from the PS system he had an IEP (Individualized Educational Plan) due to his special needs.  B/c we live in a very regulated state, the hs'ing law requires any student that had previously been in the PS system w/an IEP to have all educational goals and objectives approved by a state ...

  • Re: Are you growing?

I have learned the limits of my patience too!  Most of all I have learned how to be flexible and flow with life events instead of fighting against them.  When life throws us lemons, I can work with it and create a valuable lesson from it.  Learning to love what is and not trying to change it into something it's not meant to ...
