    homeschooling laws in Illinois

Does anyone know what the laws in Illinois require for homeschooled children?  Do we need to 'register' the child with the state or a school?  Do we need to keep a running file of their work?  Do we need to have the children take State tests?  I have looked online and have so far come up with 'we don't need anything' however, I want to make sure I didn't overlook something.  Please help!  Thanks

    Re: homeschooling laws in Illinois

    Hi-

I homeschool in Illinis and the short answer to all your questions is No. In Illinois homeschools are looked at as private schools.

All you have to be teaching is equivilant subjects to what is taught in the public school. English,Math, History, etc... The content does not need to be the same. If you go to the main homepage here at www.home-school-inc.com there is a link called Homeschool Legal and it explains clearly and concisely the rules governing homeschooling in Illinois.

    Hope this helps.
