Frustrated with needing more than 1 term

I just logged on to give HSinc another try this year, and when I began setting up this year's term, it wouldn't let me make it only 1 term.  It will only accept terms of 6 months or less.  This stinks.  It forces me to make at least 2 terms, and therefore making me do twice the work in setting up my year long courses.  I know I can just duplicate the information from the first term into the second term, but that's not really what or how I'd like to do it.  Please help me get around this feature flaw.

    Thanks,

    Jennifer

    Hello,

After hearing many complaints from users regarding the length of time it was taking to process their course creation during the set up process, we decided to force users to go to shorter terms.  Shorter term lengths require less computer time because there's less information for the computer to move around.  You're right, the duplicate term and copy course functions are the work around for duplicating information from one term to another.

If there are other users who feel strongly about wanting terms that are longer than six months, we can certainly put that on our list for future enhancements of PER.  Remember - we're only at version 1.0!

    Thanks for your comments,

    Marjorie Lock, HSI

I like to do three month terms. I set them up like quarters. Fall, Winter, and Spring. It works well and I don't have to scroll down as far when I get toward the end of planning.

If I remember correctly, from setting things up last year, I thought I could put in a particular curriculum product and the number of lessons, and HSI would automaticly plan the length lessons, pages, chapters, etc.  And by splitting up the year's curriculum into terms, it kind of makes you have to do all of the planning that I was thinking that the program was doing.  Thereby not making the planning any easier, just time consuming.

I haven't gotten very far in inputting our courses for this year yet, so I'm not sure how the functionality of it will work for us this year.

    Thanks,

    Jennifer
