    New to HSI

Hi my name is P.D. and I just found HSI. We have a 8th grade d.d. and a 6th grade d.d.. We have been h.s.ing since pre-school.

We thought the girls would be going to Christian school this fall, but my prayers were answered when they told me they wanted

to keep homeschooling :-) . Made me a very happy Mom. I call myself 2ndxarndmom because this is my 2nd family. My 1st dh

passed away in 1990 and in 1993 God brought me dh#2 . So at the age of 43 found myself a Mom again. Then 2 yrs. later we

were again blessed with d.d. # 2.  We knew we were to hold them close to us. During the 1st pregnancy the dr. advised we abort.

He said I had Toxoplasmosis a deadly disease to the baby I carried after 2 weeks of further testing ( at our insistence that this preg-

nancy would be carried to term no matter the outcome) it was found that I did NOT have the disease but had  had it. The baby was fine.

BUT he said "it" probably will have Downs . We didn't care our baby was okay. She was born perfect! No problems. 10 on the apgar.!

Praise the Lord! # 2 different dr. said this baby would be Downs (at my age 45 ) it was almost guarenteed. She too was /is perfect.

So this thankful Mom is homeschooling again this year. We use an eclectic curriculum . Anyone else use this ?

Our 13 yr. old went to teen camp through our church this summer and met alot of homeschoolers around her age. I think that was the

determining factor that swayed her back to homeschooling. Yeah!  Any Nazarene's out there?

Well now you know me .Kind of. Hope to hear from some of you out there. PDP

    Hello, PD!

It is nice to meet you!  What a wonderful testimony you offer, God is good, is He not?  I was surprised (understatement!) to find myself pregnant at age 43, and my beautiful girl was born 2 months before I turned 44!  The next youngest is 13!  So I can understand to some extent what you've been through.  We also had the dire warnings and the pressure to be tested.  We refused because the outcome of the test would not change anything for us!  I am so glad you will continue to homeschool your precious children.  I share your joy!

Hey read both of your comments. I don't share the same story at all, but I was moved by yours. I am homeschooling a first-grader and love it. It's just her and I. I just found this website a couple of months ago and love it! I am very disorganized and this will help me a lot. Hope to chat with you all more later.
