    Why do you use PERS?

I found Home School Inc. last summer and thought it'd be a great tool to use during the school year since my oldest daughter was beginning high school.  I haven't used it because I find it so much easier to use a lesson plan book and write her daily lessons out.  For some reason doing it with pen is easier for me than using a system online.  I do, however, very much like the layout of PERS and once I get the hang of it I'm sure I will adapt.  : )

We are going to do a test run using PERS for the next few weeks so I can get the hang of it and so that she can see if it works well for her.  I'd just like to know why it is better to use this kind of system verses the old pen and paper way of lesson planning and does it really help when creating transcripts?

    Thanks!

    Hi Pamela,

We're so glad you that you're trying out PER!!!  It's got a lot in it--a lot of organizing ability plus a lot of flexibility--which is kind of amazing.  I'm one of the editors--so I suppose I'm biased!!  You might still prefer pencil and paper. . .and if so. . .please continue that way.  But PER can give you, at the very least, a place to keep your notes for future planning.  A lot of our PER users are pretty avid . . . here's a message to us this week from Kristin . . .who's been using PER for over a year.  .  .

"I just wanted to let you know how much your site is helping me this year!  We have been able to keep much more on track with the new baby (8 mo and already trying to walk with me running after) by using your Home School service!  I can plan and give info to all three of my girls at different levels (even the five year old!) as well as give them links to follow for work online.  That way they can work on something if I am occupied with cheerios or diapers!  Thanks for your service!   I am not familiar with forums, but please feel free to share my comments with other users. . Thanks again, Kristin"

We wish you the best!!  Virginia
