Suggestion (not trying to be negative but...)

I want to suggest a separate forum topic addressing potential problems.  I love the positive attitude here, but let's face it - it's not easy.  There are all kinds of obstacles and often times embarrassing problems.  Where else but here would be a better, "safer" site to get help?  I notice that all of the topics are positive and motivational and that's wonderful.  But, realistically, every day can be a battle for some of us.

What do you think?  I, personally, would be very interested in the negative things that may come up for those of us with teenagers.  Raising  teens is stressful enough without having the additional task of educating them too.

Not to be funny, but I don't know how I'm going to be able to stand being around my kid so much - she's so moody and dramatic - gosh, was I ever like that?  (It's been sooooooo long! LOL)

I used to love seeing her ride off on that beautiful yellow school bus!  Now, I'm having to hear that "teeth sucking sound" all the time!  And I know I'm not the only one whose teen told them, "You don't know everything."  Or "You wouldn't understand!"

I know I can do it, and it's the best and right thing to do, but I cannot lie or pretend, I'm not looking forward to it completely - is that bad?

Let me know!  I've got plenty of content for it!

If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got!

Lord, if I can't have what I want, let me want what I have.

    Hi Genihanna

I don't think you're being negative at all.  Our homeschooling journey starts back tomorrow and I am expecting the unexpected especially with my pre teen niece.  Will be 13 in a few months.  The teen cycle starts early sometimes.  There are days I don't want to even get out of bed and face another homeschooling day but we always make it through the week.

    Hi,

I  understand what you are asking. I think every home school parent if they are honest will tell you they have had those moments of frustration...and yes they can feel like days instead of moments.

One thing I have found to be the biggest blessing is the support I have found from other home schoolers.. I have a good friend who I can call and talk to & she understands because she also home schools. Usually talking it though can help you gain perspective. This Forum is another way to find answers to your frustations with home schooling because chances are someone else has been where you are and may have a solution for you.

As far as being around her all the time I would suggest finding a homeschool co-op.

Sometimes even one day a week where your not the teacher can relieve a huge amount of stress.

Just some thought to encourage you...what better person to be around your teen than someone who loves her.
