The
Coastal Home Educators Conference (CHEC) is an outreach of Community Bible
Church Christian Academy (CBCCA). The purpose of this conference is to promote,
encourage and support homeschooling throughout the coastal region of South Carolina and Georgia. Our object is to raise
children who are obedient, (Eph 6:1-3) who love the Lord, (Deut. 6:4-5) and who
are doers of the Word (James 1:22); building a Joshua generation of leaders in
our own community.
This year
the conference has a
Parenting emphasis and would great for any parent. Even if you
are not thinking of homeschooling... you would benefit from this conference.
The
conference is on May 30th and 31st at Community Bible
Church and features Lou
Priolo. He is the director of counseling at Eastwood Presbyterian Church
in Montgomery Alabama. He is a well-known speaker
and writer who will be discussing the importance of learning Scripture for
yourself so that you may teach it to your children. You know that it is
important to know and teach Scripture.... but how do you do it?
The Saturday morning session will focus on anger issues. How do you reach the
heart of an angry child? We have all dealt with the child that pouts and
manipulates to get his own way... the child who gets angry when given
instruction. How do you deal with that according to Scripture?
The conference will also have some practical homeschooling workshops and used
and new curriculum.
