Uk Homeschooling due to ill health, grateful for any advice.

Hello all, I'm new to this forum so firstly-Hello.

It's become apparent in the last few months that my 4yr old son is not able to start school due to ill health (he has an M.E. type illness.) I would really appreciate any advice, or info, on how you started home schooling.

We are still trying to decide whether to flexi-school or fully homeschool. I have read comments on "choosing your curiculum" and would be grateful if anyone has any pointers on where I can find out further information on that?

     Many thanks

    HI there!

Sorry about the ill health your son experiences!  That's a worry by itself.  I'm an editor at this site, and a long-term homeschooling mom.  Have known many families who homeschool a child who is seriously ill, or that's the case for mom, or dad.  It's a challenge--yet the increased time together, and the slower pace is part of what's such a great help.  Also in Community if you look at Sharing Our Stories, you'll find more detailed accounts, from real families, about how they homeschool.  Some of the stories include illness situations.  Ill health among our kids is really a special need--so, anywhere you see special needs articles and information this could be a help to you. Also in our Community, in Columns, Special Needs! Special Joys! has many topics you may value. Mix-and-match between school and home is something that many families do--where they can, and where it's a good fit.  Sincerely wish your family the best!
